Studies have shown that a significant proportion of mesotheliomas among females could be the result of exposure to asbestos at school. Despite the fact that the incidence of mesotheliomas affecting females has decreased significantly over the last few years, the rate of mortality is still much lower than during the 1950s and 60s.
